Georgy Zhukov

About Me:

I was born on January 12, 1896 in Strelkova, Russia to a small family of peasants. At the age of eleven, I moved to Moscow, and was conscripted to fight in the Russian Imperial Army during World War I, but quickly I became a non-commissioned officer and later a full officer. If any one person was responsible for the eventual success of the Russians along the Eastern Front, it was me. In WW2, I played an important role in leading the Red Army to liberate the Soviet Union from the Axis Powers' occupation,to advance through most of Eastern Europe, and conquer Germany's capital,Berlin. After serving in the calvary during the civil war, I was given command of a regiment and then a brigade in 1930.In 1938, I was given command of the First Soviet Mongolian Army Group and waged an undeclared war with Japan from 1938 to 1939. For my success in defeating the Japanese, I was awarded the title "Hero of the Soviet Union." I was also made chief-of-staff in charge of the army in 1940, but was replaced before the German invasion of Russia in 1941.By the time the war was over, I was supreme commander of the Soviet Occupational Force and was popularly known as the "man who never lost a battle."After that, I served as the First Deputy Minister of Defense and on the Executive Committee of the Communist Party. My career ended in 1957 when I was accused of putting the military before the party.

I recieved numerous awards, and in 1954 I was in command of a nuclear weapon test.I was one of the most decorated heros in both the Soviet Union and Russia. Who am I? The Great Georgy Zhukov.
