Absolute Location - rough latitudes and longitudes of its borders.

Relative Location - Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia

 border the state of Pennsylvania.

Along with Lake Erie.

Capital - Harrisburg is the capital of Pennnslyvania.

 

 

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Valley Forge was the site of the Continental Army encampment and

training ground in the winter of 1777 - 1778 during the Revolutionary War.

Ecosystems:

 Forests are the dominant ecosystems in Pennsylvania, with over

16.6 million acres of forestland covering 58% of the land area of

the state. Pennsylvania has 83,161 miles of rivers and streams,

3,956 lakes, reservoirs, and ponds covering 161,445 acres accessible

to public, and freshwater wetlands covering a total of 403,724 acres.

Climate:

Although Pennnsylvania lies entirely within the humid continental zone,

its climate varies according to region and elevation. The regions with the

 warmest tempertures and the longest growing seasons are the lowlying

 southwest Ohio valley and the Monongahela valley in the southeast.

The region bording Lake Erie also has a long growing season, as the

 monderating effect of the lake prevents early spring and the late

 autumn frosts. The first two areas have hot summers, while Erie

area is more moderate. The rest of the state, at higher elevations,

has cold winters and cool summers.
