Friedrich Paulus

About Me:
My name is Friedrich Paulus and I know war. I am considered an expert on motorized warfare. I was born at Breitenau, Germany, on September 23, 1890. I originally tried to join the German Navy but was rejected due to my clerksman father. After studying war for a brief time I finally joined up. I served on the eastern and western fronts in WWI and was continually promoted until my final rank of Generalfeldmarschall, a high honor. In WWII ,I was in control of the 6th army. Though greatly outnumbered, we still won the battle Dnepropetrovsk in the Soviet Union. We advanced to Stalingrad and the defeat that would end my career in the German army. We seized the city(sort of) but our supplies were dwindling. My men were forced to eat their horses to avoid starvation! Things were so bad that Hitler, my old buddy, hoped I would kill myself. But I didn't as I am a Roman Catholic and that is against my morals. I surrendered and only 9,000 of my men survived the clutches of Russia. I sent anti-German broadcasts urging generals to rebel after the Soviet threatened to kill me and so hitler saw it right to send my family to a concentration camp. After the storm of WWII I settled in East Germany, where I am now suffering from cerebral sclerosis. I live a quiet, lonely life as everyone knows me as a traitor who valued life more than Germany.
