Arthur Travers Harris

File:Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Harris.jpg

About Me: My name is Arthur Harris aka Bomber Harris.Yes, like the TV show.I was born in Cheltenham April 13, 1892. I am a very blunt man i like to tell things how they are and im not affraid to hurt anyones feelings. When I was young my parents proposed I become a miner, so i moved to African and became a gold digger and a farmer. However, I was very displeased by this and sooon joined the military as a bugler, the only available job of the time. After my bugling days i joined the Royal Air Force as a flight commander. During the first world war i destroyed 5 enemy aircraft and recived the Air Force Cross(just the begining of my many awards). it was only a few years later when i was in India doing an anual bombing drill that i discovered my passion for bombing. Me and a few friends then came up with the delay-action bomb to better our tactics. during the second world war i came up with more strategies like "night training for night operations" and was then appointed commmander in cheif of bomber commant in 1942. however, the aircraft werent adequate and the lacked skill to acuartly drop bombs and return home but i set my mind on making this change. The war got rough and many disagreed with my methods of area bombing(taking out major German cities to damage the economy and weaken them) but i believe it was the best and only way to handle the situation the Germans had to be taken care of and the British people shouldnt be lied to about what was going on so i told them i was bombing to kill as much as possible-the germans deserved it. i was made marshal of the royal air force in 1945 i retired later that year and wrote my famous book Bomber Offensive. many to this day disagree with my area bombing tactics and believe some strategic precies bombing wouldve been more affective and less inhummane however i disagree strategic bombing wasnt advanced enough to get close to a target and was a waste of time.

My Mood: fiesty ;)

My Hobbies: Playing the bugle, Bombing Germany, back in the day i enjoyed mining and a little farming.

My Interests:Traveling to Africa, Area Bombing which is way more affective than strategic bombing, Airplanes, Bombs

My Heroes: Lord Cherwell for supporting me and understanding my thoughts.

the men who flew with bomber command although they didnt recieve a campaign metal, they far exceded the criteria to recieve it

My Favorite Saying: "They sowed the wind and now they are going to reap the whirlwind."

"the only thing the Arab understands is the heavy hand."

"There are no words with which I can do justice to the air-crew who fought under my command. There is no parallel in warfare to such courage and determination in the face of danger over so prolonged a period, of danger that at times was so great that scarcely one man in three could expect to survive his tour of thirty operations... It was, furthermore, the courage of the small hours, of men virtually alone, for at his battle station the airman is virtually alone. It was the courage of men with long-drawn apprehensions of daily 'going over the top'."

"We cut a hole in the nose and rigged up our own bomb racks and I turned those machines into the heaviest and best bombers in the command"

"In spite of all that happened at Hamburg, bombing proved a comparatively humane method. For one thing, it saved the youth of this country and of our allies from being mown down by the military as it was in the war of 1914-1918."

Charles Portal-
Nothing without you!? You were nothing. The only reason you're on wikipedia is because you "assisted" me while I strategically bombed the crap out of the Germans! When we gave you the name "Bomber" it was sarcastic!
