Air Cheif Marshal Hugh Caswell Tremenheer Dowding

Evening Guvnuh', My name is Hugh Dowding, but you can refer to me as Air Cheif Marshal of Her Majesty's Royal Airforce. I was born in Moffat, Scotland on April 24, 1882 and my military career began when I joined the Royal Military Academy. Initially I joined the Royal Artillery Garisson and served in Gibraltar, Ceylon, Hong Kong, and India. I eventually got my flying license in 1913 and would eventually serve in World War I. I got into an argument with a General (I was right of course), and got sent back to Britain, that was the end of the war for me. I went on to join the Royal Air Force, and by 1929 was promoted to Air Vice Marshal, and in 1933 to Air Marshal. During World War II, I led my squadran to victory in the Battle of Britain against the German Luftwaffe, introduced some amazing planes into war. Well, the war is over now, the year is 1949 of course, but I just got Knighted Grand Cross. Despite that, my rival Sholto Douglas replaced me as Air Chief Marshal, but we all know I was and still am the best. I retired six years ago and recently wrote a spiritual book Many Mansions.

Overall Winner of DogFights in World War II (we won almost 2:1 ratio)

My Mood: I'm freaking flying in a plane full of oil, how do you think I feel????

My Hood: United Kingdom, the ghetto, if you know what I mean!!!!!!!!!

My Favorite Saying: "The best defence of the country is the fear of the fighter. If we are strong in fighters we should probably never be attacked in force. If we are moderately strong we shall probably be attacked and the attacks will gradually be bought to a standstill. . . . If we are weak in fighter strength, the attacks will not be bought to a standstill and the productive capacity of the country will be virtually destroyed."

- obviously only I could say something this smart
